Rafael has been praised by his Manchester United team mates after another stellar performance last night against West Ham.

The Brazilian has clearly been United’s most consistent performer this term, and having shared duties with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones last season, has improving massively to cement his place as the team’s number 1 right back.

Rafael has matured and his play has benefitted from this as his game both defensively and offensively has come along in leaps and bounds and his team mates as well as the manager and fans have recognised this.

Speaking to MUTV, some of his team mates unreservedly lavished praise on about the Brazilian claiming he is on his way to become one of the best right backs in the world. Michael Carrick said:

“He has progressed every year he has been here. He came across at a very young age and it was a big change from Brazil and what he was used to.

“Every season he has got better and better. He has played nearly every game this season and has been terrific. There is still more to come from him, he is still learning the game and is still improving, so it is great for him and he is having a good time.”

Playing alongside him in defence, Jonny Evans get a first hand experience of how much easier Rafael makes his job with his defensive displays:

“There’s not really been anybody challenging for his right-back position but he’s done fantastic.

“With his energy, he really sets the tone for the rest of the players. He’s a credit to himself. People might have thought it would be tough for him with his brother going away but he’s got his head down, he’s working hard and he’s going to be one of the best right-backs in the world, no doubt about that.”
