Juan Sebastian Veron has claimed he made a mistake in leaving Old Trafford when he did.

The Argentinian midfielder spent two seasons at Old Trafford after joining from Lazio for £28m, and is often unfairly painted as an expensive flop.

Struggling to secure a place in Sir Alex’s starting XI and with his best form coming in Europe, Veron eventually swapped Manchester for Chelsea where his fortunes didn’t change thus he returned to Italy on loan before going back to Argentina.

Speaking to Four Four Two, Veron expressed his regret at leaving United when he did, claiming he had been hasty and discussed the impact it had on his family, claiming his wife left Manchester in tears:

“Looking back, I didn’t make the right choice.

“I should have stayed in Manchester for many reasons.

“My wife left Manchester in tears. We were used to moving to new cities and I’d never seen her crying because of a move.”
