Wenger has flip flopped on Zaha

Today Arsene Wenger bizarrely stated that he was never interested in Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, despite going on record last week to register his interest.

Asked about transfer targets, Wenger stated Napoli’s Edison Cavani is a player he likes and added about Zaha,

“We are looking at him, but at the moment we have not made any bid for him.’

But at a press conference this morning Wenger said:

‘We were never in for Zaha,I don’t know if he will go to Man United. If he goes to Man United, good luck to him.’

The press previously stated that many clubs were backing away from the player as it was presumed that Zaha would be heading to Old Trafford, but last week there was talk of the move stalling as a fee could not be agreed, coinciding with Wenger’s initial comments.

Over the weekend it was revealed that Sir Alex met with the 20 year old in a London hotel and today Wenger has distanced himself from the player.

Have United snapped up the exciting youngster? Crystal Palace insist no deal is in place but I think it is fair to say that bar an almighty mishap the England international is likely to be a United player in the near future!

I not sure what was so difficult for you to understand. Looking at a player and being “in” for for him seem entirely different to me. Arsenal and United look at a lot of players, it doesn’t mean they intend to buy them. Hey, but if your interpretation of things helps you to sleep better at nights then more power to you.
