Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke lifting the European Cup

Whilst impressed with United’s front line, Andy Cole is holding off making any comparisons with the 1999 treble winning attack until the end of the season.

As in 1999, United are battling on 3 fronts for silverware, topping the league table by 5 points, into the 4th round of the FA Cup and into the first knockout stage of the European Cup.

Inevitably there have been comparisons between the 4 strikers that fired United to the treble and the 4 that are attempting the same now. There is a long way to go between now and May and Cole believes the true measure of this quartet will be seen at the season’s end.

Speaking during MUTV‘s Audience with Andy Cole, the striker said:

“Robin has done extremely well.

“With Wayne, Chicha and Danny Welbeck. I look at the three who played with me – Yorkey, Teddy and Ole – and they’re always going to get compared to what we achieved.

“Naturally, you can only compare when the season is over and you can see what the players have achieved but the guys we have got now are very, very special. The boys we had in 1999 were special as well so only time will tell.”
