Sir Alex Ferguson PRESSER

Sir Alex has revealed this morning that contrary to newspaper reports, Ashley Young has returned from the knee injury suffered against Liverpool in time to face Real Madrid.

The Daily Mail had claimed the injury would keep him out of action for both Champions League ties, but the winger is back in time for Sunday’s game against Everton and has a chance of facing Real during the week too.

There was also good news regarding Phil Jones as his case of the shingles isn’t as bad as diagnosed by England u21 manager Stuart Pearce:

All the players are back fit from the internationals although we are still waiting on Chicharito to return. Ashley Young is back and Phil Jones’ illness is not as bad as was suggested by England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce.

Sir Alex turned his attention to Sunday’s opponents Everton stating they cost us the title last season and he expects a tough game from the team that has only lost 3 times this season, less than United:

“It’s a tough game on Sunday.

“Last year, you have to think that being 4-2 up with not long left, we should have won. We lost the title against Everton. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again this time.

“Everton are very experienced and they’ve only lost three games this season [the same number as United]. They’re obviously hard to beat.”
