With Ryan Giggs signing a new deal yesterday, Sir Alex Ferguson is expecting further good news before the end of the season.
According to Manchester United’s official website Sir Alex Ferguson believes there is ‘a strong possibility’ that defender Rio Ferdinand will sign a new deal before the end of the season.
Ferdinand’s current deal ends this summer and with the experienced defender now in his 10th season at Old Trafford, Sir Alex is hoping that the defender will still be at the club at the start of next season. Asked if the defender would follow Giggs and sign a new deal, Sir Alex replied:
“That is a strong possibility but it would have to happen before the end of the season.
“I think he has had a great season. He has managed himself the right way and we have contributed to that in the preparation we give him.
“He doesn’t play every game in the same way that Ryan doesn’t.
“Two weeks ago, against Real Madrid, he was excellent. We need to get him ready for the big one on Tuesday.”
