Ruud Van Nistelrooy has advice for Wayne Rooney

Former Manchester United striker and fan favourite Ruud Van Nistelrooy has offered former striker partner Wayne Rooney advice as his future at the club remains uncertain.

It was revealed that Rooney asked for a transfer at the end of the season, with papers believing that the striker had grown tired of being used sparingly by Sir Alex Ferguson.

With the introduction of Robin Van Persie into the side, Rooney had to make do with a less prominent role and later on in the season was deployed as a midfielder.

But with new manager David Moyes in place, the striker may be afforded a fresh start. Van Nistelrooy believes United fan would be happy to see Rooney stay but advised him that if he isn’t 100% committed to the club he should leave.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Van Nistelrooy said:

“I think the fans would love him to stay.

“But when he’s not fully committed I think it’s probably better that he moves on.”
