Jesse Lingard

Eric Harrison, the man that over saw Manchester United’s class of ’92 has likened new star Adnan Januzaj to Cristiano Ronaldo and picked the young Belgian, along with Wilfried Zaha and Jesse Lingard to make it to the top.

Januzaj has seen his profile rise after impressive displays for Warren Joyce’s u21 side last season. He would go on to be named reserve team player of the year and picked as a sub in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final team. But things reached a different level when he joined the first team on their pre season tour of Asia and Australia.

A number of impressive displays pushed him firmly into David Moyes’ plans and Harrison thinks that he shares similarities with Cristiano Ronaldo, as he told the MEN:

‘Januzaj is outstanding and I think he is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo. He can beat people and with Wilfried Zaha, I think there is some outstanding quality there.’

But whilst he is impressed with Januzaj, there is another player that he rates even higher.

Jesse Lingard ended preseason as joint top scorer and has continued his good form with goals against Man City and Liverpool already and Harrison is excited about Lingard’s future:

‘For me, Jesse is the top of the pile. Technically he is brilliant. He can control the ball and he is always in the right position which is very important in the Premier League. He’s got great attributes and he’s a super lad which is very important.’

This isn’t the first time Lingard has been picked out, with Rio Ferdinand also putting the 20 year old in the spotlight following his pre season exploits.
