Manchester United are set to turn their attention to Southampton’s Luke Shaw in the event of a move for Leighton Baines failing.
United have been trailing Baines since early this summer and last week saw a bid of £12m rejected, declared derisory by Everton’s management.
It is believed a similar bid was rejected earlier this summer so with the Merseyside club set to dig their heels in, United could head to the south coast in search of a new left back.
18 year old Luke Shaw was a revelation last season in Southampton’s first season back in the Premier League since getting relegated in 2005 and The Express believe that United could move for the £10m rated player as an alternative to Everton’s Baines.
A major stumbling block comes in the form of a new deal signed by the youngster, a 5 year contract signed last month when he turned 18 as well as the fact that Southampton are under no pressure to sell, especially as Shaw is one of the hottest talents to come out of their high reputed academy.
