Having scored the winner in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Arsenal, Robin Van Persie has pulled out of Holland’s friendlies Japan on Saturday and Colombia three days later.

Van Persie, Holland’s record goalscorer, played the full 90 minutes on Sunday and has apparently been excused from the Holland squad after concerns about his recent workload.

Van Persie managed to stay injury free last season, but this season has struggled with niggling injuries. There were fears that he would miss the Arsenal clash with a groin strain, although this was later proved to be Twitter gossip.

Van Persie has been playing through pain this season and will welcome the 2 week layoff ahead of United’s trip to Cardiff on November 24th.
