David de Gea

Following his heroics against Olympiacos mid week, David Moyes has hinted at offering goalkeeper David De Gea a new deal.

De Gea has is steadily growing into one of the games finest keepers and further enhanced his reputation on Wednesday after a string of impressive saves including a spectacular double save that kept United in the tie.

Moyes was effusive in his praise for the goalkeeper saying that he was on course to becoming one of the best in the world:

“David de Gea has been terrific.

“He has been great. He came in as a good young goalkeeper and he is turning into a great goalkeeper with a lot more to come.”

De Gea, who has 2 years left on his current deal, has been linked with a move back to Spain with Real Madrid thought to be looking at the 23 year old but Moyes is looking to keep the keeper at Old Trafford:

“The club are always going to keep their best players.

“The club will always look to keep the players who they feel they need to.”

Barcelona have also been linked with a move for De Gea and with Victor Valdes set to depart a move for De Gea makes further sense but as seen with Wayne Rooney when Chelsea came knocking last summer, Manchester United won’t be forced into parting with their star players.
