Marcus Rashford’s inclusion in the England squad for the summer comes as no surprise for those who have watched the youngster this season.
With his first season in top flight football helped by Louis Van Gaal’s determination to bring young players through, injuries to the likes of Rooney and other players up front being loaned out, Rashford has quickly grown to be our first choice striker, and with good reason.
Scoring six goals in 13 appearances in the 2015/2016 may be considered by many as rather modest, however, his ability to step up to the high mark set by the management team at Old Trafford has been extremely impressive.
His energy on the ball, his ability to find space and his ability to shoot a heavy ball has commanded the 18 year old a spot in the England squad. And while many are tipping that he’ll be released after the friendlies, he’s more than earnt his shot at an international berth.
His season hit a climax with his curved beauty against West Ham in the FA Cup quarter final at the Boleyn and after his call-up, you can only hope he produces his best for England during the summer.
Can he make the cut? You bet he can but he might need a bit of luck on the way.
