Following intense speculation linking him with a move away from the club Nemanja Vidic has finally moved to dispel the rumours by claiming he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Belgrade newspaper Vecernje Novosti, Vidic said,

“I have never had a conflict with Sir Alex Ferguson and speculation that I want to leave is untrue, I have a contract until the summer of 2012 and I have every intention of seeing it through to the very last day. United have made me the player I am today and there is no substance whatsoever in rumours that I have been looking for a move away to either Real Madrid or AC Milan.”

Despite his utterances is it too little too late?

Vidic has not played since the win over Wigan in December and since then the clubs official line has been that he is injured. Some sections of the media preferred to run with the notion that he simply did not want to play and had set his sights on a move to Real Madrid. This is not the first time Vidic has been linked with a move away from the club but the fact he has this injure has only moved to fuel speculation.

Even when he has played many (myself included) have felt that his performances have not been of the standard that we have come to expect. This could be put down to lack of cohesion at the back as his partner has been rotated more than enough of times through injury whilst others claim his head has been turned by Real’s advances.

We have been here before with Ronaldo, he too claimed he would be staying at Old Trafford only to depart so I am quite sceptical about Vidic’s words. If he really wants to put the rumour to bed, I suggest he does it the right way and signing a contract extension at ‘the club that made him the player he is today’.
