It was only a week ago that David Beckham made his long awaited return to Old Trafford. He himself gushed about how it meant so much to him but just days later after such an amazing high, he crashed back down to earth when he ruptured his Achilles Tendon in a game against Chievo on Sunday.

The injury has ruled him out of this summer’s World Cup and dashed his hopes of becoming the only England player to appear in 4 competitions. But even more worrying is the fact that some are speculating that the injury could spell the end of his career at the top level of the game.

Speaking here on Sky News, Football Fancast and occasional Busby Way columnist Oscar Pye Jeary along with Mark Turner discussed the impact of the injury:

The injury will keep him out of action for at least 5 months having had surgery last night and as United fans, England fans but more importantly football fans we just hope that he can over come this obstacle at this stage in his career.
