It was this fixture las year that Nemanja Vidic lost his aura of invincibility. Fernando Torres, who I grudgingly call a top class striker, gave the Serbian fits as Liverpool trounced United 4-1 and a poor performance was capped when he saw red for a foul of Steven Gerrard.

Vidic has seen red and United have lost each of our last 3 games against Liverpool but with the title race so delicate this season, it is imperative that he as well as the team can break this hoodoo this sunday.

Torres grabbed 2 goals last night against Pompey and looks to be slowly getting back to form so on Sunday there is no player he will be happier to see Vidic. But Liverpool have been misfiring whilst United have been imperial. We have looked solid at the back as well as potent in front of goal whilst Liverpool are clearly struggling.

United are no strangers to big games and nerves shouldn’t be a factor but this mini spell of dominance Liverpool hold over us must play on their minds in the run up to the game especially as we can’t afford a slip up at any point in this final run to the title.

As poor as Liverpool have been playing they always seem to raise their game just that extra bit against us and there is nothing they would love more than to be able to say that despite having such a poor season, they were the reason that we didn’t win the title this year, so we must show caution.

As always I back United to win especially as the game is at Old Trafford. Rio & Vida back fit and apparently on the same page, Rooney and Berbatov firing at the other end of the pitch so we really should emerge victorious but I doubt I’m the only person with that nagging thought in the back of my mind that Torres and co will come and make a nuisance of themselves.

One response to “Lets hope there is no repeat performance for Vida”
