Despite Sir Alex Ferguson claiming that Wayne Rooney would not take part in tomorrow’s game with Bayern Munich and our star striker not taking part in the open training session yesterday morning, people are certain that he will play a part in the game. And now The Mirror are fuelling the flames.

Although their sources are not mentioned, they are reporting that Rooney took part in a practise match yesterday away from the cameras and that he showed no ill effect thus is likely to find a place on the bench. Again how they got this info isn’t certain (a good journalist doesn’t reveal their sources) but if it does hold any weight I will be a very happy man.

The fact he plays tomorrow is a massive bonus, I believe without him we can reverse the tie in our favour but with him we stand an even greater chance. More importantly is the fact the report says he has shown no ill effects thus making him likely to feature in the games that the initial prognosis of 2-4 weeks would have ruled him out of.

We missed him on Saturday there is no doubt and if we are in fact to capitalise on any possible mistake Chelsea make, I would feel more comfortable with him in the team.

Of course this is all speculation at the moment but conspiracy theorists will tell you he was fit all along and it was just a ploy to lull Bayern Munich into a sense of false security (Sir Alex Ferguson has always been the master of mind games) but come tomorrow around 6.30pm when the team sheets are released we will know.
