Darren Ferguson will try to sign Matt James on loan again next season after being impressed by the 18 year old midfielder.

James has made 16 appearances for Preston North End scoring twice and although Darren had  contemplated a permanent move, it is thought he will now opt for another loan.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Ferguson said:

“I am looking to extend Matty’s loan for another year and I think that will get done. We still have two games left and I have already had one meeting with the board, but we’ll probably have to have one or two more to decide exactly where we are going to go.”

James is just one of a number of United stars that have impressed whilst out on loan including Tom Cleverley, Zoran Tosic and DanWelbeck before injury cut short his spell Deepdale.

One response to “Ferguson wants to hold onto James”

  1. Tom says:

I think we should loan out James and Welbeck to Preston for the season. Welbeck was doing well until his injury. He will find it difficult next season again with Hernandez arriving and possibly another foward. He would be better off getting more football out on loan. Preston is the best option as he knows the club and they will play him. It has benefited Tom Cleverly who done terrific at Watford. He is likely to return and be part of our first team squad next season. Welbeck can achieve the same.
