Spurs star isn’t the solution to a problem Nani is already solving

Having shone for Tottenham recently, Gareth Bale is the talk of the town.

His goals against Arsenal and Chelsea have kept Spurs in the race for fourth place and his performances in general have been vastly improved. So it only makes sense that he is the subject of a £20m bid from Man United.

Personally I think we are OK at left back with Patrice Evra and John O’Shea for cover. Beyond these them there is the injury prone Fabio who could make the position his in a few years time, so I assume he will be primarily employed as winger.

As a winger he brings directness, crossing ability and having played as a left back can get back and help with the defensive side of the game too. I must admit I have been impressed with his performances and depending on the outcome of Saturday’s match my estimation of him could go up further. Having him and Valencia on either wing could make us extremely dangerous but there is just one little problem, a Portuguese fella named Nani.

Nani has been a player reborn this season and whilst I was one of his biggest critics he has convinced me that he has the quality not only to remain at the club but to take the left wing position and make it his in the absence of Ryan Giggs.  He added energy late against Man City last weekend, his goals against Bayern should have won us the game and in general his play and attitude has improved thus it wouldn’t make sense to then bring in Bale now Nani has found his feet.

Add to this that Tom Cleverley impressed on loan at Watford, is more than comfortable out on the left and has a future at the club whilst Gabriel Obertan is still waiting for his chance to break into the team and it looks less likely

I think we have the wings covered, it is the middle of the park that needs to be looked at and as good as Bale has been I don’t think he would make as much impact there!

I’ve heard he has a pal called Luka that’s meant to be pretty good though…
