Loyalty demands we pass on Serb star

The talk of the papers today is that we are looking to sign Milos Krasic, using Park Ji Sung as a makeweight to bring the Serb to the club.

We have seen first hand what he can do in the two games we played against CSKA Moscow in the group stages of the Champions League where he, along with Alan Dzagoev, starred especially in the second tie at Old Trafford where he got onto the score sheet having put on a masterclass down the right against the inexperienced Fabio.

A player of obvious quality it then becomes a hard task when we decide do we actually make a move for him?

It may seem a no brainer but there is more to the decision than meets the eye.

Firstly using Park as a bargaining chip does not sit well with me. He has only recently come out saying he would like to end his career here and the fact he works so hard for the team and pops up with such important goals make me feel he would be a player missed. You just have to look at how he sat on Andrea Pirlo against AC Milan to realise the importance of his role in the team as he cut off AC Milan’s life source.

Secondly the question of where he would be employed plays a major factor. If he is sought as a creative influence in the middle of the park then I like everyone would be all for it but if he is being brought in to take up a position on the right wing again I think I’ll pass.

Antonio Valencia has done a pretty good job on the wing and has really brought the best out of Rooney’s aerial game. I like the fact he is very direct and likes to get back and help out with the defensive side of being a winger unlike a certain Portuguese winger we used to have. It can be quite annoying that Valencia refuses to use his left foot but when Rooney himself says,

“Antonio Valencia. I couldn’t have scored the amount of goals I have this season without him. He’s been great this year and the quality of balls he puts in the box for me has been unbelievable,”

I think he cements his place in the team.

Of course some will say there is no place in the game for sentiment but I disagree especially in this instance.

For £16m he would provide a cheaper alternative to the £28m rated David Silva and if a deal can be struck for him without the sale of Park then I would be more than happy to see him at Old Trafford but I just think before a deal is struck we should show some loyalty to the player we already have.
