Disappointed? This should merely fire us up!

I won’t lie I didn’t bother watch Chelsea lift our trophy yesterday. This morning I caught the videos of their celebrations on Sky Sports News but unlike previously where I would have been upset or annoyed, I find I just can’t wait until August to get the season started.

I won’t make excuses or throw the dummy out of the pram but for a team that lost the best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, as well as the horrendous injuries we have had, to only finish 1 point behind speaks volumes for Sir Alex’s management as well as the character of the squad.

You look back to games where we dropped points over the course of the season and you think what if? Like the poor decisions from the refs in both Chelsea games or if Carrick had scored the penalty against Burnley. It’s only natural to do so but then you think lightning can’t strike twice and next season these things can’t go against us again.

Chelsea had their own spells of misfortune along with losing players to the African cup of Nations and injuries (any team would miss a player like Essien for as long as he was out) so I won’t disrespect them or disgrace myself by saying they were totally lucky.

I know that as United supporters the weight of expectation we have is by far greater than at any other club but in the manner that we lost our title no United fan should feel downbeat. Instead I’m proud of the team I support and just look forward to next season because if there is any team that bounces back from disappointment well it is us!
