Mikel could be just the Artist we need

As the papers continue their search to find a creative spark for our midfield new names are continually thrown into the mix. There are the obvious ones like David Silva and Milos Krasic as well as the the likes of Joe Cole and Steven Pienaar.

And today another name has been thrown into the mix and it isn’t that bad of a shout.

Everton’s Mikel Arteta is a masterful player, I would have him as one of the league’s best midfielders and probably the best play maker in the league outside of the top 4. His effect on Everton has been clear for all to see as they enjoyed a return to winning ways when Arteta returned from injury so David Moyes will hope he can solve any problems that have arisen as he tries to tie up a new deal for Arteta.

Arteta could prove to be the solution to the problem of replacing Paul Scholes and the fact Arsene Wenger is looking at him as a potential replacement for Fabregas in case he leaves for Barcelona shows how highly he is rated.

Looking at Arteta and all the factors in the signing he could be a viable option, able to play wide as well as through the middle Arteta is versatile, a good dribbler and a good passer of the ball he provides a threat from set pieces, something we have missed this season and the fact he has successfully plied his trade in England with Everton since 2005 means he should not suffer with the problems of having to adapt to the English game like other players would.

At 28, Arteta isn’t exactly young but isn’t old either and saying that his game does not exactly rely on physical attributes so age shouldn’t prove to be a massive problem neither should a fee as he should not cost as much as lets say David Silva would.

David Moyes won’t be happy with his player being linked with a move away and will be looking to tie him down but if he can’t then a bid for Arteta wouldn’t seem such a bad idea.
