What the papers say: Defour, Hargreaves & Anderson, Balotelli

Some interesting stories in the paper this morning regarding Man United.

Sir Alex favourite Steven Defour has left the door open to a move to Old Trafford according to IMScouting. A fee of £13m was touted in the article for the player Sir Alex famously sent a get well soon letter to after he was injured.

They clearly haven’t heard Sir Alex is content with the squad he currently has!

Anderson and Owen Hargreaves are set to be the first victims of the new squad of 25 rule. Both are struggling with injury and could see them left out until the squad can be revised in January. Hargreaves’ tendinitis injury flared up again despite it being thought that he was over it and is currently in the States having the injury looked at again whilst Anderson is on the road to recovery having damaged his cruciate ligament against West Ham at the start of the year and it’s thought he could be back in September.

Hargreaves I can understand but maybe keeping a space for Anderson would be wise especially if he will be back in September as scheduled.

Paul Scholes has revealed he was only given 2 hours to make up his decision on joining England at the World Cup. Scholes has said he regrets not going but seeing that he was only given only a short time to make a decision he was well within his rights to turn Capello down.

I guess it’s true what they say, ‘you can’t rush genius!’

And finally probably the most ridiculous yet reoccurring theme in the papers is ‘I snubbed United to join Sh*tty City’. Papers alluded to it with Silva, then Yaya Toure and now Balotelli. Has it not occurred to all the rags running with this nonsensical stories that this is one of a few ways to make a City fan happy, make him feel he’s got one up on United!

I’m giving good odds on Milner making a similar claim or whoever else City sign this summer.
