After shining for United in the latter half of the season, Nani is ready to stand up and become one of United’s main men.

Injury held Nani back for large parts of the season but once he returned he was near unplayable and finally began showing his true worth,

‘Everyone is excited with me because they didn’t know if I could be the player everyone expected. Now everyone starts to believe I can be a very good player.’

Just hope he can carry on from where he left off as he was definitely an ace in the hole last season.

Michael Carrick has been ruled out of the season opener against Newcastle with an ankle injury. He was taken off against the Airtricity XI and the club have confirmed he picked up a knock.

This is a big season for Carrick as he has a lot of fans to win over again after falling into somewhat of a slump.

Darron Gibson is confident he can live up to the next Scholes tag this season and justify his place in the team. Sir Alex talked up the midfielder after the game on Wednesday likening him to Paul Scholes in terms of his goal scoring from midfield and the young Irish man is ready to answer Sir Alex’s call.

“I’ve got one foot in the door and hopefully this year I can kick on and play a lot more games and establish myself.”

The comings and goings at United have been confirmed as Danny Welbeck and Mame Biram Diouf are set to join Sunderland and Blackburn respectively but one player who won’t be leaving is Tom Cleverley. The midfielder shone during pre season and is set to stay at Old Trafford.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Anderson, Hargreaves and now Carrick being out?

  1. I thought the same about Cleverley.

It’s shaping up nicely for us, I think.

Nani needs Valencias consistency – but def won some fans after his performances this year.

Gibson will never ever be another Scholes .Scholes is a one off best midfielder United ever had.

Cleverley is certainly in because of midfield injuries, but that’s not a bad thing. I’m very excited to see him join the first team and though he’s a bit raw and will make mistakes, I think his confidence is very high and will thrive in no better way than remaining with the team.

Gibson will probably never be the next Scholes, though it was only in reference to his goal scoring. There aren’t that many who believe in him, but let’s hope he surprises us.

Nani’s consistency is absolutely vital if we’re to reclaim the title. I’d go as far to say that we can expect the title if he plays to his potential year round (and assuming Valencia is dependable as always).

On that subject, a lot of pre-season predictions are coming in and few are picking United to win, and fewer expect Rooney’s form from last season to continue. Some things never change, and I’ll enjoy watching them eat crow at season’s end.

I’m getting excited about the new season. I was hoping for a new midfield signing, but not so much anymore. The best news today was Ferguson confirming that Tom Cleverley was staying. He is a really good player and he is English. He has shown the last couple of years while out on loan his qualities. He scored 11 goals last season for a struggling Watford team. He deserves the chance to play for Man Utd.

Darron Gibson is another player with potential, but he is more difficult to judge. He reminds me of a young Frank Lampard, but hasn’t played as many games as he had at the same age. Gibson has to step up this season and hopefully develope his all round game. There is evidence of his passing improving, but goalscoring is his strength. If we give him time he might turn out to be a 15-20 goal a season midfielder, like Lampard.

As well as Cleverley and Gibson we have a very exciting striker in Hernandez, but we should keep expectation down.

Ferguson is being tight , he ruined our title last season buy not signing any players and this season will be the same as last season utd will win nothing thanks to fergie

  6. Bobby the Brazilian says:

Gibson is dog, he gives nothing in games, he has no vision is lazy and if he doesn’t score you would have never of heard of him give cleverley the chance to be the next scholes he has much more promise
