It has been an issue that fans and blogs has pressed for a while and whether as a result or not the club have answered the calls by purchasing various items from Nobby Stiles personal collection that he put up for auction.

At the start of the month we here appealed to the club to dip into it’s pockets and buy some of the memorabilia that Stiles was having to sell off in order to leave behind a sizeable amount of money for his kids. Amongst the items for sale were the shirt he wore in the 1968 European Cup final when we beat Benfica as well as his winner’s medal.

Today the club spent over £200k on Nobby’s World Cup and European Cup medals at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh helping net Stiles £424,438,

The items will now go on show at the club museum.

Good on the club!
