Video: Park’s late winner saves the day as SAF marks anniversary with a win

It looked gloomy I will hold my hands up and say I thought we had blown it after Wolves equalised, but I must have forgot what team I watching, the mighty Manchester United.

On a high after Owen Hargreaves was named as a starter, his withdrawal due to injury in the opening 10 minutes knocked me (thankfully the injury is to his left hamstring and not his problematic knees) and the performance added to this. We were fortunate to get our noses in front just before the end of the first half after Park scored following good play from Darren Fletcher but Wolves came out strong in the second half and got their reward when former United player Sylvain Ebanks Blake took a touch from what appeared as a shot by Milijas and nutmegged VDS to draw Wolves level.

Wolves had further chances, Steven Fletcher especially should have done better with his chance, but it was to be us that emerged as winners as Park stole the points with a left footed effort after working in field off the right in the 2nd minute of a scheduled 4.

I won’t lie I was disappointed in the performance despite and dismayed that we only showed urgency late on when chasing the 3 points but we got them so I’ll hold my gripes for now.

The victory may not have been vintage United but on the 24th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson’s appointment as United manager the result was reminiscent of some of our most memorable wins under the gaffer.
