Would a Beck’s return really be such a bad move?

Another January and another potential Beckham return to Europe.

Since moving to LA Galaxy in 2007, Beckham has returned to Europe in January for spells on loan at AC Milan but this January he has ruled out a move to the Italian club as joining the team’s roster  isn’t possible for such a short spell of time.

Beckham’s love affair with United has continued even 7 years after he departed and speaking about potential suitors this January he said he wouldn’t consider a move to an English team unless it was United. Beckham is a master at set pieces but it appears that he has been working on his fishing too.

That was as clear a come and get me plea as I have seen and whilst it as extremely unlikely would it be such a bad idea?

Part of the reason Beckham left in the first places is the media circus that inevitably follows him wherever he goes and if he was to return it would be as bad as ever but we could really reap the benefits of having him back at Old Trafford.

With Park Ji Sung leaving for the Asia Cup and Antonio Valencia out until February at least he could be a viable option. Bebe is still very rough and whilst improved, Obertan may not be ready for such an extended period in the first team. Tom Cleverley has also been mentioned as coming back off loan from Wigan but I think a full season playing games at a Premier League team has more benefits than him returning to fill a void.

United have benefited from a short term loan like this before with Henrik Larsson in 06/07 and with Beckham we would have someone who is already familiar with the surroundings even if things have changed in the 7 years he has been away. His wing play may not be what it was but he can still cross and pass, these are things that don’t go, he could play a creative role in the middle if Scholes or Anderson are absent for some reason and at worse could sell a sh*t load of shirts to help with the debt!

Of course this is a very long shot but I don’t think it would be a bad move by us at all, he would be a good temporary solution to a temporary problem.
