Having been recalled from his spell at Cardiff, Danny Drinkwater may again go on loan this season with Watford looking the likely location.

This will be Drinkwater’s third spell away from the club having also joined Huddersfield last season who he helped reach the playoffs in his 37 appearances for them.

Drinkwater made just 12 appearances for Cardiff before being recalled. He got off to a good start but an ankle injury hampered his progress and he returned to United for treatment. He went back to Cardiff but struggled, last appearing in a league game in December, so now with them signing Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and Jay Emmanuel Thomas on loan it was felt his return to the club would be best for all parties but now an opportunity has arisen for him to join Watford.

United have enjoyed success with loanees joining Watford previously with Tom Cleverly shining there last term and going on to be named their player of the year.
