Off to a good start but downhill from 3 minutes onwards.
Nani remains a player able to influence the game as he pleases and gave us the lead after 3 minutes. I thought he had taken too long to get his shot off as he slowed play down in the box but he simply shifted the ball onto his other foot and fired home. That would be the highlight of the half though as Wolves dragged themselves back into the game through 2 set pieces.
Whilst we looked somewhat improved in the second half we were still off the pace and a whilst Wolves didn’t look like they were going to extend their lead we too didn’t look like we were going to get a goal back and the final whistle brought to an end a dreary game.
The ref was poor and O’Hara could have seen red before he was subbed whilst Zubar would have been unlucky to have conceded a penalty as united chased an equaliser but that isn’t an excuse for the equally bad showing from us.
Gutted to have lost the record to Wolves with such a poor showing, would have preferred to have gone out with a bang rather than a whimper but the number of misplaced passes and poor play in general made this an inevitability. The warning signs had been there and unfortunately we didn’t heed them.
The curse of the Manager of the month strikes again eh?

Horrible performance just hoping this serves as a wake up call to the lads now and we can kick on and stop these poor defensive lapses that have crept into our play lately.
Agreed, awful showing all around. Wake up call that we needed as you can’t flirt with danger and expect to come up good all the time.
I’m more and more worried about Fletcher as the season goes on. He started the game well, but for the last 60 minutes at least was quite poor. He improved his play so consistently over a few seasons culminating in a great year last year, but I have no idea what’s been going on with him this season.
Agree, Fletcher has been very disappointing.. Carrick not much better.. Anderson’s performances have been inconsistent.. Lets be honest, when Scholes is still our best central midfielder, we should acknowledge we have problems in the middle of the park.. (and dont get me wrong i love scholes, but lets get a creative attacking central midfielder in the summer cant we???) It has been our weakness for a few years… Nani had a nice game, besides that, unimpressive. Giggsy had a rough go for the first time in awhile, and Vidic was off as well.. Felt the strikers were non existent and that subbing rooney instead of berba would have been smarter, but lets be honest Wolves had us beat… Sad because we had a great opportunity following arsenals legendary fuck up… AH well,,, makes the derby match much more nerveracking and interesting now…….
and also. why did tevez not score every fucking game for us… hope ferdinand is fit for next week cuz im going to have a heart attack watching jonny evans keep up with carlos next saturday… evans was shit again today after a few better performances… lots of credit to kevin doyle though.. held the ball up real well tonight, and matt jarvis is a decent little winger out there
The performance was typical of our efforts away from home this season. Despite being poor for periods, we should not have lost the match. When Rooney passed up that opportunity straight after the goal I thought we might pay for it.
Let’s not get carried away though, we are still in a good position. Let’s get torn into City.
P.s. We didn’t start Tevez every game and he was never the focal point of our attack, as he is for them.
Worrying that Rio is injured. The defence looks all at sea without him. And this impression is backed up with statistics. In the 25 league games so far, United have only conceded every 135 minutes with Rio on the pitch. But every 51 minutes with Evans on the pitch. Vidic and Smalling are inbetween with 97 and 104 minutes respectively.
you wern’t poor just Wolves were better on the day!!
Yes Charley because that was Man United at their best. Idiot.
