No matter what you think of him, when Darron Gibson gets it right with his long range shooting the result is almost always spectacular.
Tonight he opened the scoring for Ireland in the Nations’ Cup tournament and as you can guess it was a humdinger (I love that word and have been waiting to use it for a while!) After a neat one two he fired past the helpless Wayne Hennessey from 25 yards to score his first international goal.
I can hear the Gibbo bandwagon gathering steam again, I think I’ll run behind it for a little while longer before I decided whether to hop on or not!
LOL! Just when I want to write Darron off for good, he goes and does THAT.
Cracking goal, but thought his performance on a whole was average, my Wales boys were terrible too, never got going. Gibson would be some player if the rest of his game was to the same level of his long range shooting. Hopefully gets more games for Ireland as he needs them.
Was watching the game in bits and pieces as I was also watching the England u19s, he had an OK game but it is the thing with him. He can have an OK game and then score a goal like that and completely erase the memory of this.
Wales weren’t at full strength though were there? I caught the end and they were naming players that could have been included.
If he could even play slightly above average and get goals like this fairly regularly, I’d be happy to keep him with us. At this stage, I’m far more skeptical and he really needs to start showing more to give fans some belief.
The thing is, this lad really gets on my nerves when he plays for us. He should put in the extra effort and not just be a passenger when he plays…yes, i agree, he has a good shot on him..but that is just not good enough. He should put in the extra shift like…chasing down the opponents…putting pressure on opponents..and the likes of it..if he does that..i am happy that he stays with us..!!
Mmmmm one out of 1,500,000 shots from 40 odd yards is not too bad I suppose.
