Another gift from Solskjaer’s training school?

Fresh on the heels of Mats Møller Dæhli’s signing, Sondre Rossbach will travel to Manchester to have a trial with United this month.

Having also been invited to train at Everton’s academy at the age of 12, the goalkeeper who is now 15 has been on trial here twice before and was scheduled to play in a training match but this was decided against (apparently because we wanted to keep him and his ability between the sticks under wraps!)

Positively Rossbach is a United fan and has a particular fondness for another of our Scandinavian keepers:

“I have been a Manchester United fan since I was nine years old. Peter Schmeichel was my favourite player when he played in the club, so it’s extra special to train with United. I go over there on the 20th February and will be a week. I am very excited. It is great to train with your favourite club and for me it’s like a dream.”

Rossbach is the son of former Norwegian international goalkeeper Einar Rossbach and has trained at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s training school which brought us the likes of Magnus Eikrem, Josh King, Mats Møller Dæhli and Etzaz Hussain. He spoke of his time at Solskjaer’s football school as well as his plans for the future, saying:

“As a United fan it is fun to train with Solskjaer…I have a dream to play for United, but am currently only think one step at a time.”

Although he has been on trial, if United see fit, they will have to wait a year before they can sign the keeper from 3rd division team IF Urædd where at his tender age he is a first team starter.
