VIDEO: Unlucky United crash to Crewe

When you read a team loses 5-1, you instantly think thrashing.

5 goals is a bit much but United showed against Crewe on Saturday that a team can be unlucky despite losing by such a margin, something confirmed by the Crewe boss who could be heard saying after the final whistle ‘I don’t know how that happened’.

United enjoyed the lion share of possession and chances but Alexander proved more clinical with England u17 international Max Clayton hitting a hat trick.

The United team were absent a few notable names like strikers Keane and Cofie forcing midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe to play up front and he would be the scorer of United’s only goal of the game, a 20 yard volley.

This was United’s 3rd defeat on the bounce, a run they ended against Newcastle in the FA Youth Cup.
