Sir Alex gets rival’s backing in FA Charge

Having been charged for his comments on Martin Atkinson following Tuesday’s game with Chelsea, Sir Alex has been backed by his rival Carlo Ancelotti.

Atkinson’s performance has been widely panned after he fluffed a number of key moments in the game leading former ref Dermot Gallagher to admit that his former colleague didn’t have the best of games but Sir Alex’s comments to MUTV, telling the club’s official channel “in matches like this, you want a fair referee” have landed him in hot water with the FA with whom he has denied a charge of improper conduct.

Yet opposite number Carlo Ancelotti feels Sir Alex had a right to be angry saying:

“He had an argument against the referee.”

Ancelotti expanded on this further claiming,

“After the game, you have emotions about the game so, sometimes, you speak about decisions. This is normal, I think.”

Sir Alex has a suspended sentence hanging over his head following comments made about Alan Wiley last season so if he is found guilty he will have to serve any ban handed out plus those two games in excess.
