Plagued by injuries and on the back of two straight league defeats, Sir Alex will look to get back in the swing of things against Bolton.

With Ferdinand, Vidic, Rafael, O’Shea, Anderson & Fletcher all missing through injury and Scholes banned we face a tough task as Owen Coyle’s Bolton will be looking to get something from this local derby.

United have been in imperious form at Old Trafford so despite the players missing we can take solace from this.

Evans has stepped back into the team to partner Smalling in defence whilst Brown moves to right back whilst Valencia gets his first start since his injury on the right.

Berbatov is again on the bench whilst Oliver Gill, son of David, benefits from the injuries and is too included on the bench along with the returning Park Ji Sung. Despite the rumours there is no place for Owen Hargreaves.

Starting XI: VDS; Brown, Smalling, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Nani; Rooney, Hernandez

Subs: Kuszczak, Owen, Berbatov, Park, Fabio, Gibson, Gill.

I’m shocked that Berbatov isn’t strting, but I guess Hernandez has hit a bit of form. Hopefully Berbatov looks at this as a challenge and doesn’t sulk too much. He has had a better season, but even he should know he hasn’t done it consistently.

Berbatov should ALWAYS start. Fergie could also play him in midfield. We are lacking a creative midfielder who can hold the ball and create opportunities for others.
