It was thought their roles in the tie would be important and in the second leg of the FAYC semi final it showed as both Ravel Morrison and William Keane scored against holders Chelsea to take United into the final .
Keane had missed a number of games prior to the tie due to a dead leg whilst Morrison missed the first leg due to a red card and although Keane played the first leg it was tonight where he really made his mark.
Coming into the game 3-2 down, United set about over turning the score and did so with a quick volley of goals that saw United go ahead on aggregate. Morrison’s deflected shot looped over the Chelsea keeper to make it 1-0 and then minutes later Keane’s towering header extended United’s lead on the night as well as on aggregate.
In the second half Keane sealed his hat trick when he bundled in following Blackett’s cross and then tucked away a penalty following Ryan Tunnicliffe’s great tackle and surging run for a 4-0 win on the night and 6-3 aggregate score.
United now face Sheffield United in the final following their win over Aston Villa earlier in the month.
