Last Saturday, an extremely youthful Manchester United u18 side took on Liverpool at their academy in Kirkby.

With one eye on the FAYC semi final against Chelsea a number of players were rested and Liverpool took full advantage handing us a 6-0 drubbing.

Still smarting from the loss in the FAYC quarter final, Rodolfo Borrell’s team looked to inflict a second defeat on United in a matter of weeks and did so emphatically as Tony Silva hit a brace in the first half.

Goal scorer in the FAYC Adam Morgan continued a remarkable record of scoring in 13 consecutive games for the club and was joined on the scoresheet by Adorjan as well as former United trialist Michael N’goo who hit a brace to complete the scoring.

Despite the scoreline, there were some bright performances from the likes of Lawrence, Wilkinson and Dæhli and the fact we had one trialist and 5 schoolboys playing puts the game in perspective as Nick from Manchester United Youth summed up the two sides on Twitter:

United players – 4 born in ’93, 4 in ’94, 6 in ’95. Liverpool – 2 in ’92, 7 in ’93, 4 in ’94, 1 in ’95.
