It took just 37 seconds for Javier Hernandez to knock Chelsea out of the title race.

The young Mexican has been the signing of the season accruing an almost cult like following from fans and pundits alike having scored 20 goals in his debut season at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex’s decision to sign the then unheralded Chicharito back in April last year has been vindicated in a massive way as he has scored a number of important goals and one of football’s greatest has joined the long list of those singing his praises.

Pele knows a thing or two about scoring goals. The Brazilian legend found the net 1281 times in his career and in Hernandez he has seen something that he likes and feels he could emulate one of the games current greats Lionel Messi,

“There is no doubt that Hernandez is a promising player. He is excellent, I have seen some games of his on television and he is a fantastic footballer.

“He could be the next Messi because he has great talent; he is a big surprise just as Hugo Sanchez was because he is another that scores a lot of goals.”

For the sake of our Chicharito I hope this great legend retracts his predictions. Some player he was in his time but he is poor when it comes to predictions.

Just about to say the same thing. Please retract before May 28 Pele!

In all truth, I don’t know how wrong he is about assessing players specifically. But when it comes to WC and general future trend predictions, well, he’s not so world class.
