Back in October looking at his form and his actions if I had told you Wayne Rooney would go on to score goal of the season and work his way back into the fans affections, you would have been sceptical.

His conduct off field, performances on field and his utterances about the club ensured he become somewhat of a pariah but after realising his mistake about questioning the club’s ambitions things began to look up and finally at the turn of the year things began to click and the turn around has been remarkable.

With 15 goals this season hopefully one or two to add to that on Saturday, Rooney hasĀ starred alongside Javier Hernandez upfront but was petty frank when speaking about the early part of the season,

“The first half of the season was a bit of a write-off for me but since the turn of the year I feel I have contributed. We have won games and I have really enjoyed it.”

Winning his 4th league title, lifting the trophy has lost none of it glamour for Rooney who stated:

“You never get bored of celebrations like this.

“This is what you play football to do, to win trophies and medals.”

One response to ““The first half of the season was a bit of a write-off for me””

“The first half of the season was a bit of a write-off for me”

    understatement of the year !!!!

But I guess its all forgiven, I hope he stays on for years and wins much more.
