Despite the 9 point margin, winning the league was very much a rollercoaster ride this season.

Chelsea’s early dominance, the inevitable Arsenal pressure than collapse, the late Chelsea surge – it all made for a nerve wracking title race.

As the season came to an end back to back games against Arsenal and Chelsea threatened to derail our season and when Aaron Ramsey’s goal at the Emirates handed Arsenal a 1-0 win it gave the game against Chelsea the following week extra importance.

United’s performance against Chelsea at Old Trafford is widely regarded as the result that finally won us the league and Patrice Evra hasĀ revealedĀ it may have come as a result of a dressing down courtesy of Sir Alex Ferguson following the defeat to Arsenal.

Evra spoke of the hairdryer incident that hit home saying,

“After we lost at Arsenal he asked everyone whether or not they wanted to win the 19th league title and break the record? ‘How many opportunities are you going to miss?’ he said. ‘You’re going to regret it if you don’t win it’.

“I was so pleased we got the point we needed at Blackburn, because if we hadn’t I think we would have got the hairdryer!”
