De Laet, who went out on loan 3 times last season at Preston, Sheffield and Portsmouth, was wanted by a number of teams after impressing in his 32 appearances at the 3 teams but Norwich appear to have won the race for his signature and a season long spell in the Premier League could be just what the Belgian defender needs as he continues his development.

De Laet is the latest player to leave United this summer in some capacity with the retirements of and Paul Scholes, set to join Besiktas on loan, agreeing terms with Sunderland and both and John O’Shea seemingly available.
