Manchester United have added a third new face to the squad this summer confirming the signing of Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea from Atletico Madrid.

The signing comes after De Gea, goalkeeper of Spain’s victorious Euro u21 championship side, completed his medical on Monday.

De Gea is expected to assume the number 1 position in light of Edwin van der Sar’s retirement and it is not something that fazes the youthful goalkeeper,

“I feel very proud and I can’t wait to start playing here.

“When a club the size of Manchester United comes in for you it obviously makes you very, very happy.

“I saw their interest as an extra motivation to work even harder to show off my ability.

“It’s a great privilege to be part of a club like United and I’m keen to do my best and show what I can do.”

De Gea has risen to prominence despite his age helping Atletico Madrid to the Europa League as well as the Super Cup beating Inter Milan.
