In one of the most protracted transfer sagas of the summer, Wesley Sneijder’s move to Old Trafford has taken so many twists and turns many fans have simply lost interest.

The Dutch maestro has many fans amongst United supporters but there are some who feel we should just keep everything in house and attempt to bring through someone to do his job from our ranks.

Although not an exact match, many fans are happy to see Tom Cleverley be given a chance in midfield, the type he may not have been afforded had we signed Sneijder whilst Sir Alex himself alluded to Sneijder stunting the growth of another burgeoning talent in Paul Pogba.

There is no United fan in the world that isn’t happy to see Sir Alex give youth a chance but the signing of Sneijder has got an endorsement from an unlikely source as former youth coach Eric Harrison has given his approval of United making a move for Sneijder.

Speaking to the MEN, Harrison sang Sneijder’s praise anointing him as the man that could help United and Sir Alex to another treble,

“Last year I’ve got to say the build-up was so slow, painfully slow but so far this season the tempo is up 30 to 40 per cent. It’s brilliant that they’re playing quicker, United-style football.

“In the Community Shield City couldn’t get near us as we were playing our one-twos and keeping our discipline when they tried to bully us.

“We’re not as good as the ‘99 team as yet but the style is similar with so many strikers competing for two positions and the speed of the build up.

“People have a go at Berbatov but I think he has great control and awareness and for me he’s a top player.

“There is plenty of time for Fergie to get another treble but maybe not this season.

“The boss may be coming up to 70 but he will go on until he’s 90.

“Daydreaming I’m thinking that with a controlling midfielder another treble is not beyond the realms of possibility.

“I will probably get a telephone call and a ticking off from Sir Alex Ferguson for saying this but we do need a replacement for that world-class talent Paul Scholes.”

Harrison was then asked who that player could be and with Sneijder’s name suggested he curtly replied; “He’ll do.”

There have been no “twists and turns” in this saga. There is no saga. We were never in for Sneijder. The story was invented by the media and it’s been flatly denied several times by the club.

How many times do they need to say “we are not buying player X” before you believe them? Can you name any player in the past we signed that the club had vehemently denied they were interested in? It’s never happened has it?

    • Chudi says:

If you honestly believe that we weren’t looking at him at all you’re incredibly naive.

This has been going on since last summer buddy, it qualifies for ‘saga’ status!

    • Martino says:

@ChrisW Earlier in the year Fergie claimed he had no interest in signing De Gea, yet there he is at the club!

    • 31 says:

Chudi and martino are in denial. Greedy supporters always wanting more. Only time will tell wht the outcome of this “saga” then these two would go like “oh maannn. Fergie was telling the truth”

A case of plausible deniability if ever I saw one. Wait until the window is closed before anyone says No transfer. PLayer, agents and club will all manipulate the situation and the media.

  3. Saf must signe sneider

    • gilbert says:

Have you ever see Real madrid or Barcelona try to sign other club’s bench warmer?? if they are not good enough for their club they are not good enought for United, we are competing with the big boys we should be signing or try to sign the players that Real madrid or Barcelona want, every year Real madrid sign players that we want eg, Benzema last year and Vanane this year, can you imagine Real madrid wanting to sign our bench warmer.

  7. Tonka Norris says:

We’ll get him but it’s going to cost either Berbatov or Nani. I think that’s the negotiation that’s slowing it down.

better idea mate, lets snub wesley all together and give Pogba a chance in the frst team this year.

don’t need wesley, got Cleverley and he’s gona be three times the player wesley is.
