United continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-1 win over Chelsea in a topsy turvy win at Old Trafford.

The people that write the script must have been in a good mood as Arsenal and Liverpool both lost whilst Man City dropped points surrendering a 2 goal lead at Craven Cottage.

Last season Hernandez set the tone for the game scoring in a minute, United would take 7 this time as Chris Smalling, slightly offside, crashed a header past Cech from Ashley Young’s freekick.

The game would ebb and flow with Chelsea going close but it seemed only United would be hitting the back of the net on the day as a raking pass from Evans found Nani who cut insie off the right wing and let fly with a cracker leaving Peter Cech a bystander.

United would increase their lead when a powerful Phil jones run left Rooney with the simply (or not so simply if you’re Fernando Torres) task of knocking the ball into an unguarded net.

There would be chances aplenty in the game but Chelsea would take just one of theirs immediately after the break as a wonderful ball from Nicolas Anelka found Fernando Torres who replied with an equally wonderful finish.

There would be a John Terry -esque penalty from Wayne Rooney as well as crazy misses from both Torres and Berbatov before the final whistle went to ensure United took all 3 points.
