Last May upon picking up their 2nd Champions League trophy in 3 years, having beaten Manchester United in the final for the second time, people asked are we witnessing the greatest side in club football ever?
From Puyol and Pique, to Xavi and Iniesta, to Messi and Villa their star studded team oozes quality and even the ‘less glamorous’ players like Busquets, Alves etc are top quality. Add to that the addition of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez this summer and you have a real all star team.
Despite this Roberto Martinez has paid Manchester United a massive compliment by declaring Manchester United better than our Catalan counterparts.
Speaking to TalkSport, the Wigan boss stated:
“In many ways they (Manchester United) are better than Barcelona – that’s just down to the mentality, the belief and they way they approach games.
“What Barca have is the way they play the game, they are very unique, you won’t see another team in world football that will rely on 900 passes to win the game. The pattern of their play is impossible to compare.
“But United have a blend and mentality in the squad that is the best in world football. It’s just a matter of beating a team like Barca in a one-off game and see who can be European champions, as I believe they are on a different level than anyone else.”
A very astute comment on the part of Martinez , lets hope we prove him right .

Yes more compliance monitoring. And the Regional Councils should charge damages for cleaning up lakes and rivers not just fines. If a $12,000,000 clean up cost like at Lake Ellesmere is charged to a bunch of polluting dairy operations they may think twice about their discharges.
