September was a so-so month for United.

After a blistering start to the season the injuries we had accrued began to catch up and of the 6 games we played we won 3.

Of course this could be worse as the other 3 were drawn rather than lost but some of the results will be disappointing looking back especially allowing Basel to get back into a game we should have killed off having lead 2-0.

The highlight of the month was a 5-0 hammering of Bolton at the Reebok Stadium, putting to bed any memories of our poor away form last season but the 3-0 victory over Leeds runs it a close second, as we gained a small measure of revenge for the embarrassing 1-0 defeat last January in the FA Cup 3rd round.

16 goals in 5 games is a testament to our fire power all over the pitch with 6 of the 16 coming from players that aren’t strikers whilst the 6 goals we conceded might not paint a proper picture of United defensively that month.
