Much has been made about the form of our young defenders.
Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and even Jonny Evans have all impressed especially in the absence of senior figures like Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic this season.
In fact their form has all been so good at some point that it has even prompted some to question the place of Rio Ferdinand in the squad with some happy to see the frequently injured defender phased out in favour of the fresh young talent.
Whilst this probably won’t be the case, Sir Alex Ferguson has warned that both Ferdinand AND Vidic need to keep their wits about them if they are to regain and maintain their places in the first team.
“Rio and Nemanja are well aware they are going to have to play well to keep their places.
“Competition is so fierce now with these young lads coming through.”
