Javier Hernandez came to the rescue for Manchester United yesterday as his goal sealed a 1-1 draw for United.

In what was a close and cagey affair for the most part, Liverpool took the lead when Steven Gerrard’s freekick was allowed through the wall into the back of the net. The goal was a controversial one as Charlie Adam appeared to go down despite not actually being challenged by Rio Ferdinand.

Liverpool’s lead was not to last though as United struck back through Chicharito in the 81st minute after he headed in a nodded on pass from Danny Welbeck. This was Hernandez’s second goal at Anfield but unlike last season’s, this goal was more than consolation.

David De Gea continued to add to his reputation with a number of top draw saves that ensured United took a share of the points whilst Rio Ferdinand hopefully silenced some of his detractors with a solid showing.
