United have suffered another injury blow with news that Darren Fletcher will be taking an extended break from football due to a bowel disease.

In times like this football merely becomes an aside and I’m sure I won’t be the only person wishing Fletcher a speedy recovery.

Fletcher was out from March to September with a mystery illness and it has now been discovered that he was infact suffering with a illness called ulcerative colitis,a chronic inflammatory bowel condition.

United stated that Fletcher will “take an extended break from the demands of training and playing in order to afford the best chance possible of achieving full remission once again.”

Again we all wish Fletcher a full and speedy recovery.

Its terrible news, but this is more than about football. I hope Darren Fletcher recovers his health for the long-term, whether that involves him playing again or not. He has been a great servant for the club so I really hope he does return.

Losing Fletcher and Vidic for the season is a big blow for the team. We will have to endure and hope the squad is strong enough to maintain a challenge on Man City. I still don’t know if Ferguson will sign any players in January because there isn’t many options around.
