Of all the players currently out injured, it is widely accepted that we will miss Nemanja Vidic the most.

Vidic was injured in our 2-1 loss to Basel earlier this month and the injury is set to keep him out until next season.

Vidic has grown into one of our most important players, and his level of performance has grown since he assumed the captaincy from Gary Neville.

That’s why former Liverpool defenderAlan Hansen is perplexed as to why he wasn’t named footballer of the year after helping United win their 19th league title last season.

Speaking in the Daily Telegraph, Hansen said:

“The Manchester United captain was just sensational in the closing weeks of last season, when he played such a big part in his team winning the title.

“Whenever Manchester United were under pressure, Vidic would be there, kicking, heading and blocking everything that came near him.

“He is a mountain of a man and United will miss him so much until he returns from a cruciate ligament injury next season.

“How he was not voted as Footballer of the Year is beyond belief.”
