Ryan Giggs has refused to set a date for his retirement, news that will please United fans everywhere.

Despite being 38 Giggs remains a top player, much to the chagrin of opponents, and as Aaron Ramsey and co found out on Sunday there is plenty of life left in him as he set up United’s opener.

The Welsh midfielder has tailored his game to ensure longevity and is known to take extra care with his health and fitness, so as long as he feels up to the task of playing, and feels he is making a valid contribution to the team he will carry on for United.

Speaking in the MEN, Giggs stated:

“You have to keep going up a level, no matter what age you are.

“I don’t know how long I can keep playing for.

“As long as I am enjoying it and still contributing to the team, not making a fool of myself in training or games.

“I still want to perform and I still want to enjoy it.

“If you are not playing well or feel you are coming up short in training, that is the time to hang up your boots.”
