“I think I have done more good things than bad things”

David De Gea has hit back at his critics, claiming that they have magnified his mistakes.

De Gea has been in brilliant form of late, and further proved his worth against Spurs yesterday with a save early in the second half from a deflected Jake Livermore shot to keep United in the lead.

But early in the season, as was to be expected, he struggled. His errors lead to him being labelled a dodgy keeper and he was written off by some who wanted to see his place in goal given to Anders Lindegaard.

But speaking to Spanish paper AS, De Gea has dismissed those who wrote him off:

“Honestly, I think I have done more good things than bad things, but perhaps what I have done wrong has been reported on more.

“Of course I am self-critical. I have to be. Any footballer must learn from his mistakes to improve day after day and know what his weaknesses are.”
